  • Techniques & process

Marjo Lampila combines painting and drawing in her works. She uses ink, acrylic ink, watercolors, fiber and gel pens in her works.

An essential part of her working process is presence and subconsciousness.

  • Contrast & depth

When she begins a work, she does not know what kind of artwork will emerge. It is an inner journey—a feeling or state that wants to become visible.  Once the plot of the work has been revealed, she adds details to the work very consciously.

The works are multi-layered: abstract when viewed from a distance and detailed when viewed up close. This contrast creates depth and invites the viewer to take a closer look at the works. Lampila enjoys the fact that the works remain a mystery and offer the viewer the opportunity to find their own story.

  • Studies & experience

Lampila completed her master's degree at the University of Tampere in 1989. She has a 30-year career in user-centered service design in the digital world, from design to management.

She has studied consciousness science for over 10 years under the guidance of Oneness University in India and completed basic studies in fine arts at the Sara Hildén Academy in Tampere.
